LambdaVision’s mission is to restore vision to the millions of patients suffering from retinitis pigmentosa (RP) and age-related macular degeneration (AMD) through the development and commercialization of a protein-based retinal implant. By delivering their technology for production within the laboratory aboard the space station, LambdaVision hopes to demonstrate the advantages of manufacturing their implants in a zero gravity environment.
LambdaVision was founded in 2009 by a research group within the University of Connecticut led by Dr. Robert R. Birge (professor emeritus within the university’s Department of Chemistry) with student research from Dr. Nicole L. Wagner (who currently serves as Chief Executive Officer) and Dr. Jordan A. Greco (who currently serves as Chief Scientific Officer).
