With extensive experience across a broad range of technologies, John Rogitz has developed deep expertise in patent preparation and prosecution for innovations in fields such as artificial intelligence, autonomous vehicles, extended reality, video games, IoT, blockchain, fintech, rules-based software, computer hardware, medical devices, and other electrical and mechanical domains. Drawing on a technical background that includes prior work as a web developer, John brings a practical, technology-driven perspective to client service.

As a second-generation patent attorney and having served as Managing Attorney at Rogitz & Associates, John works closely with a diverse client base, from startups and independent inventors to Fortune 500 companies.

Beyond client counseling, John is recognized for significant contributions to the intellectual property community. John serves on the IPWatchdog Advisory Committee, regularly publishes articles for IPWatchdog and other outlets, and frequently speaks at programs hosted by leading organizations including the California Lawyers Association, the National Association of Patent Practitioners, IPWatchdog, and the Licensing Executives Society. John’s leadership is further demonstrated by his co-founding of the California Lawyers Association’s AI Interest Group and service on the Executive Committee of its IP Section (2023–2025).

A dedicated educator, John teaches intellectual property law as an adjunct professor at Trinity Law School and has also taught IP at the undergraduate level, making complex legal concepts accessible to innovators and professionals alike. His commitment to education and mentorship reflects a passion for intellectual property law and for helping to shape the next generation of patent professionals.
