Yianni Kokolakis focuses his practice at Dilworth IP on patent preparation, prosecution, and strategic portfolio development. He advises clients on protecting innovations in software, electrical and mechanical engineering, advanced manufacturing, and medical device technologies, working with innovators ranging from startups to established companies.
Yianni has extensive experience drafting and prosecuting U.S. and international patent applications, responding to USPTO office actions, and conducting examiner interviews. He works closely with inventors, in-house counsel, and foreign associates to develop intellectual property strategies that align with business objectives and support long-term growth.
Prior to joining Dilworth IP, Yianni practiced at an Am Law 100 firm, where he advised clients on patent strategy and managed domestic and international patent portfolios. His work included coordinating global filings and counseling clients on aligning their intellectual property assets with commercial objectives.
Yianni’s technical background in computer science and engineering allows him to translate complex innovations into strong, defensible patents. Before his legal career, he contributed to multidisciplinary engineering projects involving electrical, mechanical, and software systems.
Outside of his legal practice, Yianni enjoys the outdoors, cooking, and is an avid car enthusiast, restoring classic cars in his garage and volunteering annually as a Class Host for the Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance.
