John “Yianni” Joseph Kokolakis to Join Dilworth IP as Intellectual Property Counsel

New Haven, CT — Dilworth IP is pleased to announce that John “Yianni” Kokolakis has joined the firm as Intellectual Property Counsel, focusing on patent preparation, prosecution, and strategic portfolio development. Yianni advises clients on protecting innovations in software, electrical and mechanical engineering, advanced manufacturing, and medical device technologies.
Prior to joining Dilworth IP, Yianni practiced at an Am Law 100 firm, where he advised clients on patent strategy. He also managed domestic and international patent portfolios, coordinating global filings and aligning intellectual property assets with commercial objectives.
Yianni’s technical background in computer science and engineering allows him to translate complex innovations into strong, defensible patents. Before his legal career, he contributed to multidisciplinary engineering projects involving electrical, mechanical, and software systems.
During law school, Yianni served as a judicial intern to the Honorable Chief Judge Nelly Khouzam of Florida’s Second District Court of Appeal, where he conducted legal research and drafted bench memoranda in support of appellate decisions. He maintains an active commitment to pro bono service, assisting independent inventors and underserved communities with intellectual property matters.
Yianni earned his J.D., with Honors, from Emory University School of Law in 2023, and his B.S. in Computer Science from Vanderbilt University’s School of Engineering in 2020. He is admitted to practice before the United States Patent and Trademark Office, the State Bar of California, and the State Bar of New Jersey, with New York admission pending.
Outside of his legal practice, Yianni enjoys the outdoors, cooking, and is an avid car enthusiast, restoring classic cars in his garage and volunteering annually as a Class Host for the Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance.
